Mumbai: On the BJP’s first list of candidates in Maharashtra are 14 candidates from Mumbai. It is being said that the party plans to contest 18 seats in Mumbai. All its existing MLAs have been given another chance. Vinod Shelar, the brother of Mumbai BJP chief Ashish Shelar, is the only first-timer in the running, from the Malad West constituency.

Mumbai: Ahead of the Maharashtra assembly polls, the opposition Shiv Sena (UBT) on Monday alleged there were attempts to include bogus names in the voters' lists across 150 assembly constituencies which it claimed the BJP was planning to contest.

Among the prominent names are Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and state BJP President Chandrashekhar Bawankule. Srijaya Chavan will contest from Bhokar.

He said his group would back other candidates supporting the Maratha cause in segments reserved for the Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST).
