Mumbai: The BJP announced its first list of 99 candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly polls on Sunday which saw a prominent role being given to women candidates and no big surprises in the list,

The BJP released its first list of candidates for the Maharashtra Assembly election. Devendra Fadnavis, Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Ram Kadam, and Nitesh Rane are among the 99 candidates named by the party.

In Chinchwad, BJP has preferred Shankar Jagtap to his sister-in-law, Ashwini Jagtap, who became MLA after winning a bypoll necessitated by the death of her husband Laxman Jagtap last year.

The Maharashtra assembly elections for 288 seats are scheduled for November 20, with results expected on November 23.
